Frequently Asked Questions
Your
wedding day will not only be one of the happiest and most memorable days
of your life - it will probably be one of the most stressful! The following information should answer any questions you may have
pertaining to your wedding video.
Why should I film my wedding?
Suppose a friend told you they had in one hand a book of professional photographs of the day your grandparents were married, and in the other hand a professionally produced video of that same day in full color with stereo sound, but that you could only choose one to keep as an heirloom. Which would you choose? While pictures are very important to your wedding day, unfortunately; they do not tell the story in real time. A video will allow you to relive your wedding day as it actually happened and it will allow you to see all of the special moments that you missed (and there will be a lot) It is for this reason that the videographer should be an integral part of your wedding. Recent statistics have shown that 65% of brides that choose not to have their wedding professionally filmed beforehand have regretted it afterwards - don't be one of those statistics.
Will a videographer be obtrusive?
We pride ourselves on being discreet all through the event and the key to this is detailed pre-planning. As part of each package, we come to your wedding rehearsal and scout any locations that you will be using as part of your day (even if we know the location or have filmed there before). This enables us to remain virtually "invisible" to you and your guests.
What type of equipment do you use?
We use Canon GL2 3-chip digital cameras that have the ability to record in low light environments, eliminating the need to set up artificial lights. This further enables us to continue to be discreet throughout the entire wedding and allows us to capture all of the truly important candid moments.
How much experience do you have?
Officially, I have 6 years of professional experience in the field, but I have done freelance work since 1998. Most of my work has been done in Texas, however, it has also taken me to several locations around the United States and Canada. Some of my credits include film work with 20th Century Fox and the documentary film "Jump!" and imagery work for publications such as Time, Teen People, and Sports Illustrated.
Do you charge mileage?
If you choose the Silver package and your venue is further than 2 hours away, you will be charged mileage fees accordingly. If you choose either the Gold or Platinum package, you will not be charged any mileage fees.
Do you accept credit cards?
Unfortunately, we do not accept credit cards at this time. We only accept payment in the form of cash or check.
Can I choose my own music?
Absolutely - it's your wedding day! If you cannot make a decision on music and would like us to do it for you, that is fine too. We always choose music that best fits your day and/or theme.
What happens if I exceed the designated hours in my package?
The Silver package offers 3 hours of film time and the Gold package offers 5 hours of film time. If you go over the hours designated in your package, you will be charged an additional $50 per hour. If you purchase the Platinum package, you will have unlimited hours.
Do you offer photography services?
We do not offer photography services. We have been fortunate enough over the years to work with some wonderful photographers in this industry. We can provide assistance in helping you locate photographers, planners, florists, and other personnel to help make your wedding day a successful one.
How many cameras do you use?
We typically use just 1 camera for the weddings we shoot. If needed, we can use 2 cameras for an additional charge.
Do you use microphones?
We use a microphone on the groom during the ceremony, but it is not wireless. We use a digital recorder to record the vows during the ceremony. We have found that wireless microphones are susceptible to interference (cell phones, radios, etc.) on occasion and that risk is completely eliminated with using a digital recorder. The voiceover is synchronized into the video during the post-editing stage.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes, we do offer discounts. If you are a current student at SHSU or Texas A&M, you can receive a discount of 10% off of the Gold or Platinum packages only.
Do you film the ceremony and the reception, or are they separately charged?
Each package includes filming time for both the ceremony and the reception unless otherwise specified.
What is Pre-Ceremony Coverage?
Pre-Ceremony Coverage is footage that is shot prior to the ceremony. Our job is to tell the story of your day from beginning to end. In order to do that, it is important for us to shoot pre-ceremony footage of the bride and groom, family and wedding party preparing for the ceremony. This footage is included in each package.
What are Wedding Day Highlights?
Wedding Day Highlights are shown at the end of the wedding video after the credits roll. It is a quick recap of all the highlights from the day (the vows, cake cutting, the first dance, etc.) It is a personal touch we add for each wedding and it makes for a wonderful ending to the entire video.
What is a Love Story Video?
The Love Story Video is an additional service that can be added (it is included in the Platinum Package) It is a video that is shot prior to the wedding and it tells the story of how you met and fell in love with your spouse. It is filmed in a documentary / interview style and we can shoot in any location you would like within a reasonable distance (mileage fees will apply if venue is further than 2 hours away). It is a personal favorite among our brides and they like to show it before the ceremony or during the rehearsal dinner.
How long do I have to wait for my wedding video?
We generally have a 3 week turnaround time on our wedding videos. If it is a busy time of the year (wedding season), there could be a delay in finishing the project. If a delay occurs, we will keep in touch with you and keep you up to date on the status of the project until we have it completed. We do not double-book days specifically for the reason that we want to dedicate our full attention to each wedding we film. This also allows us to firmly stand by our 3 week turnaround time - because we do not feel you should have to wait any longer.
